Emphasis on difference leads to patterns, emphasis on sameness leads to quantification
I had some vague idea that to set up "sameness" as the other half of "difference," would promote all the fallacies of misplaced concreteness which all nouns encourage. The point is that emphasis on difference leads to patterns, emphasis on sameness leads to quantification. [In the latter case] There is always the question "how much sameness?"
